Biomedical Research Intern

In my position as a Biomedical Research Intern at Krannert Cardiovascular Research Center, I assisted research coordinators with various studies designed for patients with cardiovascular issues and diseases. My internship required navigating an EHR system, data entry, understanding of medical terminology, approaching patients, and attending meetings.

Primary Responsibilities and Projects

  1. Completed CITI training modules for biomedical research certifications.

  2. Read through current study protocols and ensured comprehension of informed consent.

  3. Went with coordinators to approach and consent patients for clinical trials.

  4. Worked alongside coordinators to take vitals for patients in trials.

  5. Navigated patient information in the EHR system and performed data entry for patient medication lists who were involved in studies. 

  6. Updated coordinator trial calendars for upcoming patient appointments.

  7. Attended weekly meetings with the research team manager and all coordinators who delivered updates on the status of their respective studies. 

  8. Created a spreadsheet shell for an upcoming study titled "POLARIS".
